RACIAL JUSTICE AND EQUALITY
As Jesus followers, we are devoted to justice and righteousness. God made each one of us in His image. He calls us one body, one family. He told us to love one another, as He has loved us so sacrificially and graciously. We celebrate diversity - it is one of our favourite things about Church.
We grieve the oppression and violence that our brothers and sisters of colour have experienced, and are committed to actively fighting racism and facilitating change. We are humbly listening and learning, and are dedicated to responding with care. Proverbs 31:8-9 tells us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; to ensure justice for those being crushed. Relate Church has a Diversity Council, made up of people of colour in our church community. They have begun meeting with our pastors to speak into matters of justice and equality in our church family and community.
Here are some of the conversations and resources that may be helpful as we go forward together.
