Pain is like an eye mask, covering your vision so that you scramble to find answers from every other possible way without seeing what’s in front of you.
However, in the midst of pain Jesus wants to meet you face to face.
What do we do, when every corner we turn is another symptom, challenge, or annoyance that feels too helpless to overcome? We turn to the Holy Spirit, who lives inside of us and sit with Jesus. The answer to our pain isn’t something of this world but a continual communion with someone who gives us an eternal life to look forward to. The answer may not always be getting rid of the pain, but sitting with the one who loves us the most; face to face, and lather in that moment.
So, the answer to my suffering may not to be relieved of the pain that is so present every moment, but to surrender it, by sitting with Jesus in the midst. Jesus has healed us of our pain,. He went to the cross to free us of any pain and suffering. We need to look to Jesus to be reminded that the things we are experiencing in this world are temporary. We need to turn to Jesus and spend time getting to know how to live a life with an eternal perspective. We need to put down what is present and turn to who has overcome. We need to turn to Jesus, who is even more powerful, beautiful, and fulfilling than what is present in our earthly circumstance. Jesus, and the relationship He offers to us is so much more than what we experience here on earth. It is nothing compared to what we see in the present moment. It surpasses our knowledge of what we think is ‘real’. It brings us to an overflow and abundance of the living spring of water that Jesus offers. We will never thirst again.
Yes, maybe I can’t breathe every now and then, but in the midst of that Jesus is real. Jesus is with me. Jesus has healed me. I may be in pain but there’s nothing stopping me from spending time with Jesus. While I sit with my pain, and there’s nothing else I can do, I can look to Jesus.
Jesus is the answer to my pain.
While I’m in pain I will use every opportunity I get to commune with Jesus.
